Brendaliz’s story illustrates your gift in action.
Brendaliz first arrived at the Benedict Center because her probation agent told her it was a requirement. She had just recovered from a serious car accident and lost custody of her three children while she was recovering.She was uncertain anything could help her. She felt alone. Overwhelmed, she abruptly walked out. Our counselor ran after her and asked her to just give us (and herself) a chance.
Brendaliz returned. She began groups, individual counseling, and parenting classes, building the skills and resources she needed to, in her words, “find myself, my power, my story.”
Brendaliz says the help she received in a safe environment and the skills she learned made all the difference. She completed her legal obligations. She shared, “Even the judge was proud of me.”Since then, she secured housing and her children returned home to live with her. Her goal is to share her story and help young women.
