Individuals like you can provide Hope, Healing, and Change to women in Milwaukee.

As the Benedict Center celebrates its 50th year of service and advocacy for women impacted by the criminal justice system, we recognize that individual supporters like you are the cornerstone of our work.

When April and Thelma drive the Sisters Street Outreach Van into the parts of our community where women in the street-based sex trade can be found, they do not only offer lifesaving harm reduction supplies like Fentanyl Testing Strips. They also offer the hope that comes from being seen and valued, without judgment.

When the District Attorney’s Office referred Lateisha to the Benedict Center for substance use treatment instead of jail, it meant she could continue to raise her son at home. We later learned that her life was endangered by a violent boyfriend. Julia (our Bridge Case Manager) and Lynette (our Peer Support Specialist) helped her move into her own apartment with rental assistance for two years to escape the abuse and rebuild her life with her child. Even though Lateisha completed her court obligations, she is continuing her healing journey with support from the Benedict Center.

When women in our program told us they needed safe, affordable housing to progress in their healing journey, we set out to make changes in the local housing system to create solutions for the greatest number of women in need. With your help, we made progress. Our advocacy work increased awareness of the issue and leveraged the first dedicated HUD funding for people who are homeless due to fleeing the violence of domestic violence or sex trafficking. This, in turn, allowed us to connect 23 homeless women to safe housing so far.

Supporters like you have been instrumental in helping fulfill our mission of Hope, Healing, and Change for justice-impacted women over the past 50 years.

Will you make a gift today to empower women like Lateisha to transform their lives and create system level changes to create solutions for women affected by the criminal justice system?

Thank you in advance for your contribution to further our mission and help lives of women every day.
